GENERAL CHAPTER OF THE CISTERCIAN ORDER

The General Chapter as the central organ of fraternal, legislative and judicial deliberation is the supreme authority in the Order, without prejudice to the legitimate autonomy that belongs to each Congregation and monastery according to the norm of universal law, of these Constitutions and of the Constitutions of the individual Congregations approved by the Holy See (Constitutions of the Cistercian Order, art. 52).
