The appointment of a prior administrator in Wąchock (Poland)

On October 22, 2026, during a canonical visitation to the Abbey of Wąchock—which also coincided with the conclusion of his second ten-year term as Abbot—Father Abbot Eugeniusz Augustyn submitted his resignation from the office of Abbot of Wąchock. This resignation also resulted in the vacancy of the office of Abbot President of the Polish Cistercian Congregation.

The Abbot General and the Order sincerely thank Father Abbot Eugeniusz for his twenty years of service as Abbot of Wąchock, as well as for the more than five years he served as Abbot President of the Polish Cistercian Congregation. May the Lord reward him for all the good he has accomplished and fill him with His blessing, His peace, and the strength needed to continue serving the Church and our Order.

Following a vote by the Abbey’s Chapter—in accordance with Article 85§3 of the Constitutions of the Polish Cistercian Congregation, which allows for the appointment of a Prior Administrator for a one-year term—the Abbot General appointed Fr. Tymoteusz Kaczmarczyk, previously the community’s bursar, as Prior Administrator of the Abbey of Wąchock for a period of one year, effective October 23, 2026.

It is now the duty of the First Assistant of the Polish Cistercian Congregation to convene the Chapter of the Congregation for the election of a new Abbot President.
