New Abbess at Campo Grande, Brazil

For serious reasons of health, Mother Benigna Silva, Abbess of the monastery of Nossa Senhora Aparecida in Campo Grande (MS, Brazil) presented her resignation to the Abbot General, Pro-President of the Congregazione Brasiliana dei Cistercensi. During his visit to Campo Grande and after consultation with the community, the Abbot General accepted her resignation and oversaw the election of a new abbess. On March 19, Sister Maria Elisabeth da Trindade Alves Ferreira was put forward; and on March 21, 2017, after receiving the necessary dispensations, she was confirmed and installed as Abbess of Nossa Senhora Aparecida in Campo Grande.
