In the course of the regular visitation and at the conclusion of the mandate of Fr. Paolo Celso Demartini, the Abbot General and Pontifical Commissioner of the Congregation of St. Bernard in Italy presided over the abatial election in the Monastery of Our Lady of St. Bernard at São José do Rio Pardo. Fr. Hélio Porto, who was until that moment the prior of the community, was elected and immediately confirmed.
