The passing of Fr. Sebastiano Paciolla

Early this morning, Fr. Sebastiano Paciolla, a monk of Casamari, returned to the House of the Father after suffering a cerebral hemorrhage. Fr. Sebastiano was born in 1962. He made his religious profession in 1979, and was ordained a priest in 1986. An expert in Canon Law, he had been for many years the Under-Secretary of the Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life. He was also a professor at various Pontifical Universities in Rome, and contributed on many occasions to the governance of the Cistercian Order. Recently, he had been the chaplain for the sisters at the monastery of Santa Susanna in Rome.

The funeral rites will be held on June 23 at the Abbey of Casamari.

We entrust Fr. Sebastiano to the mercy of our heavenly Father; may He reward His servant, who spent his life at the service of the Church.
